Rock and Worship Roadshow

Yesterday we went to the Rock and Worship Roadshow. It was so awesome! We carpooled with some friends and were followed by two other cars of friends. Once we were finally there it was raining, and of course I was wearing some new flats which totally soaked my feet. I tightened my hood around my face until the only part of my face visible was from the nose down. at one point someone called 'Halie' and when I turned it was followed by a round of chuckles from the parents. I followed the pair of feet in front of me and we slowly made it. When we got to the front they checked our bags and pockets and guess what? Taylor forgot to leave his pocket knife in the car and they wouldn't let him through. So while the rest of us got seats for everyone his mom took him back to the car to leave his knife there. Brenten sat on one side of me with Vincent and Alexis sat on the other. The parents kept changing their minds on the seating and so we had to switch rows and seats several times. We talked to fill up the empty air, me to distract from excitement, and Brenten and Vincent, I suspect, to distract from the nervousness they were feeling, unsure as they were that they actually wanted to hear this music they were unused to. Shirley and Taylor returned after awhile and while Shirley sat with the parents, Taylor took the seat on Lexie's other side. We talked, took pictures and finally the first band began. There were a few opening bands, 'Remedy Drive', and 'Sidewalk Prophets' and then the more popular ones. 'Fee' was a big hit and after there was Franchesca Battistelli, 'Family Force 5', 'The David Crowder Band', and "MercyMe'. I think everyone liked Fee. My mom came to sit by Alexis and I during Franchesca Battistelli, kicking Taylor out and hoping Franchesca would play one of her favorite songs, 'Free to be Me' which she did. It turns out her husband was on the drums! My mom went back to her original seat after that reluctantly and Taylor came back from hangin' with his mom. Then 'Family Force 5,' came on. They were wearing matching outfits but ranged ridiculously in looks. Like their looks, their actions and music differed wildly from the other artists'. There were, as is implied by the name, 5 of them and they never stopped moving, jumping, leaping, dancing, kicking and other crazy things. Some people thought they were ridiculous or stupid, Taylor hated them! But Alexis, Brenten, Vincent and I really got into it. I recognized one or two songs: Love Addict. Everyone knew that one it seemed and they sang along - "Hold up, wait a minute - put a little love in it!" Vincent and Brenten, the unsure guys were now transformed, jumping, moving, dancing, shaking fists in the air, waving their hands. Next was the David Crowder Band. They were another huge hit, even Taylor loved them, and they played for a long period of time, by this time I couldn't stop from joining in on Vincent and Brenten's fun and even Taylor, a huge fan of the band, joined on the hand waving and swaying. There was one song where we did what they called the 'shuffle', which was stomping your foot and clapping your hands in a fast paced rythm. Finally we made it to the showstopper, MercyMe. After the first song ended Brenten announced,
"You were right."
"What??"
"This band IS good."
"I think they have better songs than that!"
They sang some amazingly well known songs and I sang along with most, but I'd been doing that all along. It was amazing, the music made everyone feel great and I don't remember what all was said, but I felt... Well I felt oddly like an outter shell had been cracked and my inner thoughts and emotions had melted away, melding with those of everyone elses in the huge arena. And yet I was kinda oblivious of mostly everyone, locked in my own happy bubble and I didn't car ewhat anyone thought as I sang and swayed. There was praying, we sang 'Amazing Grace' and even the guys joined in singing when they knew the words. Brenten was so funny singing, and everyone was grinning the whole time. We'd laugh so hard when they got to parts where there was only noises like "Oaaoooo, Oaaoooo!". Afterwards we just couldn't stop saying "That was so awesome!" We went to In n Out Burger for a bathroom stop and some food, which was pretty much everyone elses' plan from the Rock and Worship Roadshow too. The place was packed and it took like half an hour to get our food, and even Kaleb's food - a single hamburger!! By the time we pulled into the Demmings' driveway it was midnight and when I finally got off my sugar high and went to bed it was 1 in the morning.

I slept in until 9. Most of today I've felt weak and mostly had weird apetite moods. Tomorrow's Easter! Lord willing we'll get to go to church, I really wanted to see Sydnee's play!!
